Competition Commission pricing issues statement
31.05.08
The Competition Commission published a statement of the issues yesterday that it will be looking at when it examines the pricing plans put forward by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for Stansted Airport.
The pricing plan will govern how much BAA can charge airlines during the 5 year period starting on April 1 2009. The issues include the degree of competition for airport services, the appropriate framework for the price control, the detailed structure of the price control formula, and public interest issues.
The Commission will report and make its recommendations on both prices and any public interest considerations to the CAA no later than October 28. The price review for Stansted is separate from the Commission's ongoing market investigation into BAA airports, which some say could lead to the airport being sold.
