Ryanair question easyJet youngest fleet claim
26.06.10
Ryanair has asked easyJet to 'stop making false claims about operating Europe’s youngest fleet’ and also asked it to resume publishing its on-time flight performance. Ryanair said that it operates a fleet with an average age of just 2.8 years, yet the ‘Why fly easyJet’ web page claims easyJet operates ‘Europe’s youngest fleet’ with an average age of 3.4 years.
Ryanair called on easyJet to 'stop making false claims' and 'hiding the truth about its poor punctuality by amending its website and publishing monthly punctuality, passenger complaints and lost bag statistics.'
Flightontime.info reports that in 2009 79.9% of Ryanair's flights were on time (much less than the 90% plus they claim). This still beats easyJet at 76.95%, but not by as much as Ryanair would like to make out.
