New Ryanair threat for Boeing
21.11.09
Ryanair will end its relationship with Boeing if it does not have a preliminary deal on a new aircraft order for the period after 2013 by early December, the budget airline's Chief Executive told Reuters yesterday. Michael O'Leary said: ‘I am not wasting another Christmas holiday trying to talk to guys in Seattle,’ adding that he though a deal was highly unlikely.
Earlier this month,he threatened to reduce or cancel orders the airline has already placed for 200 737-800s if Boeing did not cut its prices for the planes. With rival plane maker Airbus not willing to offer Ryanair a better deal, the airline seems to be caught between a rock and a hard place.
Asked about the new report, a Boeing spokesman said: ‘Ryanair is a valued customer. We cannot comment on any discussions we have with our customers.’
