Ryanair offers free flights for Arsenal goals in the Champions League final
17.05.06
In an attempt to rescue itself from the controversy over the 'free flights for goals against England in the World Cup' debacle, Ryanair has announced it is backing Arsenal in Wednesday's Champions League Final by offering 50,000 free (excluding taxes and charges) flights from Stansted airport for every goal that Arsenal scores.
Karl Hogstadius, Ryanair's Deputy Sales & Marketing Manager, said: 'We are confident the Gunners will lift the cup in Paris. They're currently on a winning streak, Wenger's a master tactician, they have eliminated both Real Madrid and Juventus on the way to the final, they've got the best defence in the competition and are looking good for Wednesday. And, of course, there's only one Thierry Henry!'
'To raise the stakes even further and encourage Arsenal to score, Ryanair is offering 50,000 free flights for every goal they net against Barcelona during regular match time. The free seats will be up for grabs at www.ryanair.com starting from Wednesday (17 May) midnight.'
