Boeing refuse to replace Ryanair toilets with seats
14.04.10
Ryanair says plane maker Boeing is not going to fulfil its request for jets with more seats and fewer toilets because it believes that it would compromise passenger safety, the Press Association reports.
Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary has been threatening to introduce paid toilets on the airline's shortest flights - so called 'pay to pee' - as a way to discourage using toilets. This would mean it could take away the 2 toilets at the back of the plane and add an extra six seats for passengers.
Mr O'Leary says he still hopes to persuade Boeing that removing two bathrooms and adding six seats would not slow down emergency evacuations. A Boeing spokesperson said the firm did not discuss conversations with customers. We think the whole story is a giant publicity stunt, which appears to be working !
