Motorway roadworks overrun
11.07.08
Overrunning roadworks on the M11 at junction 8 (the Stansted Airport exit) are now set to carry on until mid-August after they missed their original end date. Unforeseen complications with ground conditions have added to the works and delayed progress.
The work is being carried out on a two-mile stretch between the junction and a point near the Stansted Road Bridge at Elsenham. It includes laying new quiet surface material, replacing the safety barrier and installing a concrete central reservation barrier.
A 24-hour contraflow and 50 mph speed limit is in place with the northbound entry slip road onto the M11 reduced to one lane. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
