Ryanair instroduce higer summer baggage fee
02.07.10
Ryanair's new peak summer season luggage fees came in to effect yesterday, increasing the cost of checking in a bag from £15 each way to £20 for a 15kg bag. The higher fees will be in force for the whole of July and August and apply to all Ryanair flights.
The budget airline will allow passengers to pay £5 more to buy an additional 5kg, bringing their total luggage allowance to 20kg (still only in one bag) and the total cost to £25 each way. Passengers who forget to check in online will be charged £40 per 15kg bag or £50 per 20kg bag checked in at the airport (each way).
Budget rival easyJet also charge for checked in baggage, but it is cheaper at £9 per bag, each way. The solution is to try and take less stuff, or you could fly with another airline as, including baggage, check in and card fees, you might find it is cheaper.
