Longer trains planned for Stansted Express

The Stansted Express rail link is to get new longer trains by 2011, in time for the London 2012 Olympics. David Johnston, managing director of Stansted Airport, said he was ‘delighted’ with the news. He said: ‘The new trains will help ensure every visitor, athlete and official has the best 'first and last' impression of both Stansted and the UK.'
Mr Johnston added that 47% of travellers were using public transport, such as buses, coaches and trains, to travel to and from Stansted Airport. We think that this is because its airport parking is so ridiculously expensive, as they have a virtual monopoly with hardly any off airport car park competition to drive prices down.
