Stansted Airport Disabled Facilities
Stansted Airport has a help line (0870 000 0303) in case you have special needs within the airport terminal. It is also advised that you inform your travel agent and airline of your needs so that the airport and airline can work together to make your time inside the airport building as comfortable as possible.
Wheelchair and baggage assistance at Stansted can be arranged via the Help Points situated outside the revolving entry doors to the airport. There are wheelchair / access ramps, lifts and reserved seating inside the airport departure lounges.
There is a train system at Stansted to take you to and from your aircraft. The trains are fully wheelchair accesible.
Many hearing impaired help facilities are available at Stansted Airport. Look for the usual icons. Payphones and credit card phones can also be found in the airport terminals. Those with hearing impairments can make use of the phones which are fitted with induction couplers, and the textphones which are fitted throughout the terminal building. There is also a minicom (Tel: +44 (0)1279 663725), and a number of staff members are trained in sign-language.
Guide dogs for the partially sighted are allowed inside the airport.
To make the journey as easy as possible, the airport has reserved seating areas for disabled passengers. These areas are equipped with the following:
- Induction loops for hard of hearing passengers.
- Easy wheelchair access
- Arm rests on chairs
- Low level information monitors for ease of vision
For the visually impaired, airport signage is in distinctive black on yellow.
