getting to central london from stansted airport
Stansted currently has one terminal and one runway (there are plans to add another runway). It is is particularly popular with 'no frills' airlines and for charter flights.
There is an information desk in the international arrivals area, open daily 05:30 - 23:00. The terminal also has bureaux de change, ATMs, shops, duty-free stores, restaurants and bars.
Getting to london from stansted airport on public transport:
Train: the airport has its own main line train station within the terminal. The 'Stansted Express' train service runs between the airport and London's Liverpool Street Station between 05:00 and 24:00, taking around 45 minutes.
Fares are expensive at around £15 one way, but this is the quickest, hassle free route to central London. For further information visit www.stanstedexpress.com.
Coach: National Express run 3 services from stansted airport to central London, with coaches operating 24 hours a day. The A6 runs from the arport to London Victoria, the A7 to Liverpool Street and Victoria and the A9 to Stratford in East London.
There are also 'airlink' coach services operating between Stansted and Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Private hire transfer companies: a number of companies offer private hire transfers from stansted airport to central London. One that we have had good feedback on is Viator. They offer an airport transfer service to / from Stansted Airport in a 'private car transfer' or via an 'airport shuttle' (a mini-bus).
Taxi: there is a taxi rank directly outside the terminal. You could take a taxi to central London but, 34 miles or 56 kms from the city, you have to travel down a busy M11, past the M25 and through the busy East End. This is not the quickest or most comfortable option, and it's likely to cost you over £90, so it's not the cheapest either.
Getting to london from stansted airport by road
